Different Collection Permission Types

When editing collection permissions, you can assign various levels of permissions to users and teams within a collection. There are currently 8 permission types that you can use to control access. You can use a combination of the base permissions to grant particular users or teams a desired access levels for a collection. A summary of what each permission controls is detailed below.

Browse collection

This permission allows a user/team to navigate to the collection and view projects (in the 3D viewer) that are contained in the collection. They will not be able to edit properties of the project, or create points of interest or annotations. They will not be able to see the source files, or export points. The intention is that this grants the user view-only access to the projects within the collection.

Download from collection

This permission grants the ability to view and download the original source files for a point cloud. It also grants the ability to export selected regions from the point cloud in the viewer. You would normally assign this as an additional level of permission in conjunction with Browse collection (it would not be useful to assign Download from collection without also assigning Browse collection).

Edit Analytics

This only allows the user to edit the analytics of a point cloud such as poles and wires, trees and classification analytics, if you have access to analytics with your subscription.

Edit metadata

Allows users to make changes to the project metadata

Manage Collection

This permission grants a number of additional levels of access and can be thought of as granting "admin/power user" status to the user/team. The following additional actions are enabled with granting of this permission:

Share Collection

This permission allows the user/team to create Share links to projects in the collection, or to share the collection.

Upload to collection

This permission only gives the user/team the ability to upload new data into a collection for processing. This means that when they access the "Upload" form, they will see this collection as an available destination collection. For example, if you only give a user Upload to collection permission on a collection called Upload Area, then when they use the upload form, they will see the following (which in this example means they can only upload to a single collection called Upload Area)

Note that this permission, by itself, does not grant the user access to view any point clouds in the collection - so even though they can upload new point clouds to the collection, if this is the only permission that they have, they will not see any point clouds in the collection. This can be useful if you want to set up an external contractor and allow them to upload point clouds into your account, but not see any of your data.

Edit Projects

This permission allows the user/team to change and alter all aspects of the project within the specified collection. From adding POI's to measuring and recording data this permission provides a lot of control to the user. This permission is useful for the editing and measuring of your point clouds without giving that user control over managing the point cloud.
